Safer Drivers Course

Upcoming Safer Drivers Courses

The Safer Drivers Course helps young drivers on their L-plates prepare for driving solo when they graduate to provisional licences. The course teaches learners how to reduce road risks and develop safe driving behaviour. It includes ways to cope with potential dangers, such as when you have mates in the car, or if you're running late.

It's also designed to help you understand more about speed management, gap selection, hazard awareness and safe following distances, which your parents, supervising drivers or professional driving lessons may not have covered.

As well as becoming a safer driver, you will have 20 hours credited to your log books driving experience record at the completion of the course. This reduces your required hours of supervised driving to 100 hours. The course is designed for a one time only attendance, so the 20 hours can be logged in your driving experience only once.

Requirements

Participants must have completed 50 hours of actual on road driving experience to be eligible for the course. Credits gained under the 3-for-1 scheme cannot be included.

Safer Drivers Course Cost

The course cost of $140 includes a three-hour facilitator group discussion with other learners and a two-hour in-vehicle coaching session for two learners. These modules can be completed on separate days.
